Bloom Lighting Group partnered with Design Poole to deliver a full custom hospitality lighting program for the Courtyard Charleston Waterfront, a bright and beautifully appointed hotel destination on one of South Carolina’s most celebrated waterfronts. This project called for a hotel lighting design approach that could capture the breezy, coastal sophistication of Charleston while meeting the functional demands of a full-service Marriott property.

From the moment guests enter, the lighting establishes a tone of relaxed elegance that feels entirely native to the Lowcountry. In the lobby and bar areas, flat brass hexagonal flush mount fixtures cast a warm, diffused glow across the bright white ceiling plane, their clean geometric form complementing the coastal palette without competing with it. Slim elongated brass cylindrical pendants serve as refined vertical accents flanking key architectural moments, while a sage green ceramic dome pendant adds a fresh, resort-appropriate pop of color that ties the lighting into Design Poole’s carefully considered material and color story.

In the dining and lounge spaces, the custom hospitality lighting opens up into more expressive territory. A multi-arm sputnik-style chandelier in brass with globe bulbs brings an airy, modern energy to the social seating areas, its open form allowing light to radiate generously throughout the space. Over bar and kitchen island vignettes, linear brass pendant clusters with articulating arms and exposed globe bulbs strike a relaxed, residential note that softens the commercial scale of the room and invites guests to settle in. A sculptural multi-globe pendant cluster with mixed sphere sizes in smoked and clear glass serves as a focal statement in the bar area, adding depth and dimension to what might otherwise be a straightforward service environment.

Throughout the property’s guest bathrooms and transitional spaces, the attention to detail continues. Arched brass vanity mirrors with integrated sconce lighting create a seamless, tailored look that elevates the guest room and bathroom experience well beyond the expected. Slim brass tube wall sconces with cylindrical glass shades appear in refined vertical pairs throughout corridors and social spaces, their quiet presence reinforcing the cohesive hotel lighting language that runs through the entire property.

Bloom Lighting Group’s expertise in coastal hospitality lighting and custom hotel lighting design made this a natural collaboration with Design Poole. The Courtyard Charleston Waterfront required a lighting program that could feel simultaneously polished and unpretentious, sophisticated enough for a waterfront destination and relaxed enough to honor Charleston’s easy, unhurried character. Every fixture was selected with that balance in mind.

The Courtyard Charleston Waterfront is a proud example of what custom hospitality lighting can bring to a branded hotel property when the lighting is treated as a true design partner rather than an afterthought. If you are working on a coastal hotel, resort, or select-service property and need a lighting team who can deliver that level of care, we would love to connect.
